Version History
Note
The Xhtml Photo Gallery program helps you build photo galleries
very easily, for viewing in an internet browser, either locally or on
a web site.
Different layouts of galleries may be built: With thumbnails aligned
on a side of the image (top, left, right or bottom); As tabular thumbnails
index pages linked to a browsable list of images; or as a slide show
that play automatically, at a chosen pace, and may loop unendlessly.
The galleries may be built as standard xhtml pages, or in a single dynamic
page, using JavaScript.
The gallery pages conform to CSS and XHTML 1.0 standards. This allow
great versatility for customization. You may also use web templates
to achieve consistent results with a specific web site design.
The size and quality of the images and the size of the thumbnails
may be set; you may also add page transitions (for Internet Explorer);
you may set a consistent style for all your galleries, or edit each
style (colours, fonts, borders...) separately. A text or picture watermark
may be added to the images, with the transparency you choose.
Images can be inserted, removed and sorted very easily.
Once a gallery is built, you may change its aspect in a click with
style sheets. A few sample style sheets are provided. You may edit styles
to create as many different style as you want and save them for future
use.
You may set multiple installations for the application in order to
manage several layouts in parallel, without needing to change the settings
each time you create a gallery.
To Install
Download and run the installation module XhtmlGallerySetup.msi.
It is a Windows Installer file that takes care of all the install process.
A shortcut is created on the Desktop and an entry is added to the
Program menu.
A "My Documents\My Xhtml Photo Galleries" folder is created as
a root folder to contain the galleries.
Galleries from the previous version (Html Photo Gallery) are not
compatible with Xhtml Photo Gallery.
Index page using a table
of thumbnails
This is a classical presentation using a index page of thumbnails, leading
to a browsable list of images.
Thumbnails on top
(or bottom)
This presentation uses a horizontal thumbnail stripe over the image.
Thumbnails on the left
(or right)
Here, the thumbnails are aligned vertically on the left of the image.
Randomized Slide Show
Images can also be presented in an automatic slide show. In predefined
order, or randomized.
The HTML Photo Gallery program is provided with a few style sheet
templates, which are only meant to show you some simple presentation
options, suited for every layout. Use the internal style sheet editor
to edit the main elements of the layout. If you are a CSS expert, or
if you use a sophisticated style sheet editor, you may set even more
appealing aspects for your galleries.
You may even create a gallery template, from a dynamic web template,
in which the gallery will take place.
If you create elaborate style sheets and want to share them, you
may send them to us. We will consider proposing the interesting ones
on this site.
